In "The Double," the mysterious murder of a US senator bearing the distinctive trademark of the legendary Soviet assassin "Cassius," forces Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere), a retired CIA operative, to team with rookie FBI agent, Ben Geary (Topher Grace), to solve the crime. Having spent his career chasing Cassius, Shepherdson is convinced his nemesis is long dead, but is pushed to take on the case by his former supervisor, Tom Highland (Martin Sheen). Meanwhile, Agent Geary, who wrote his Master's thesis on Shepherdson's pursuit of the Soviet killer, is certain that Cassius has resurfaced. As Shepherdson and Geary work their way through crimes both past and present, they discover that Cassius may not be the person they always thought him to be, forcing both to re-examine everything and everyone around them.

Den Trailer will ich mir nicht unbedingt ansehen, aber die Synopsis liest sich ziemlich cool, wenn auch ein bisschen 08/15. Wird geguckt, denke ich. :icon_cool:

Mir ist gerade kürzlich beim Streifzug durch die Videothek aufgefallen, daß Richard Gere in den letzten Jahren einige recht glanzlose Filme gemacht hat. Klar, "Pretty Woman", "Der Schakal", "Sommersby", "Zwielicht" oder "The Mothman Prophecies" kennen wohl die meisten, aber "Das Lächeln der Sterne" oder Produktionen wie "Flock" oder "Hunting Party", die im Kino entweder untergegangen sind oder gleich als DVD-Premiere veröffentlicht wurden, sind irgendwie total an mir vorbeigegangen. Da kann man nur die Daumen drücken, daß Geres neuer Film Kinoformat hat und nicht zur 08/15-Ware verkommt.

Vor allem The Hunting Party wuerde ich definitiv nicht als 08/15-Ware bezeichnen, den fand ich sehr gut.
Und lieber Qualitaetsfilme direkt in die Videothek als kompletten Rotz auf die Leinwand klatschen.  ;)

Danke für den Tipp! :respekt: Ich habe mir den Film inzwischen ausgeliehen und das ist eine echte Perle, die ich überhaupt nicht im Fokus hatte. Zudem der wahrscheinlich beste Kriegsreporter-/Journalisten-Film, den ich jemals gesehen habe. Besser als "The Year of Living Dangerously", "Salvador" und "5 Days of War" sowieso - gleichauf (wennauch nicht vergleichbar) mit "All the President's Men". 9/10
