As I Lay Dying, James Franco's adaptation of William Faulkner's 1930 novel, has revealed a trailer in advance of its Cannes premiere. Check it out in the player below, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

Written, directed by and starring Franco, As I Lay Dying also stars Danny McBride, Tim Blake Nelson, Beth Grant, Logan Marshall-Green and Ahna O'Reilly.

The novel, widely acknowledged as one of the defining works of American literature, is famous in part for its unique stylization wherein the first person narration shifts between more than a dozen different characters, each offering their stream of consciousness views on the story, which follows the Bundren family as they attempt to honor Addie Bundren's (Grant) wishes of being buried in her hometown.

Konnte den Film endlich auf Netflix sichten.
Den Roman hab ich nie gelesen, deswegen war die Inszenierungsweise mit dem Splitscreen doch ziemlich gewoehnungsbeduerftig.
Auch die extrem langsame Erzaehlweise war ganz und garnicht was einem der Trailer vorgaukelte.
Doch auch nachdem ich mich daran gewoehnt hatte, war das Ganze zwar interessant und wirklich gut gemacht, trotzdem zog es sich viel zu sehr hin.
Die Schauspieler waren wirklich gut, James Franco konnte ich mir erst nicht so wirklich in diesem Material vorstellen, Danny McBride ist nur sehr kurz zu sehen, danke dafuer.  :icon_mrgreen:
Insgesamt gelungen, aber leider nicht so packend und interessant wie erwartet.
Trotzdem noch bei einer 6/10 gelandet.
