Der amerikanische Horror-Spezialist George Romero, der 1968 mit dem Zombie-Streifen "Die Nacht der lebenden Toten" sein Regiedebüt gab, begibt sich auf eine einsame Insel. Sein nächstes Projekt als Drehbuchautor und Regisseur heißt "Solitary Isle" und dreht sich um ein Forscher-Team, das auf einer nur scheinbar verlassenen Insel auf böse Mächte trifft. Die Kurzgeschichten-Vorlage stammt von dem Japaner Koji Suzuki, nach dessen Geschichten auch die Gruselstreifen "The Ring" und "Dark Water - Dunkle Wasser" gedreht wurden. Mit "Land of the Dead", dem vierten Teil der legendären "Nacht der lebenden Toten"-Serie, schockierte Romero im vergangenen Jahr seine Fans.

Sieht wohl so aus als wenn bald wieder was vom "Urvater der Zobiefilme" kommt wenns sich bei dem Film überhaupt um Zombies handelt.... :king:
Allerdings werden wir wohl noch ein bischen auf die Fortsetzung der Dead-Reihe warten müssen... :bawling:

Wenn mit "schockierte" gemeint ist, dass er damit den besten Zombiefilm seit Jahren drehte und Filmen a la "Dawn"-Remake in den Arsch trat, dann kann ich da nur zustimmen. :icon_mrgreen:
Stimmt die Wortwahl ist nicht besonders gelungen (habe aber auch nicht ich verfasst). LAND ist mit Sicherheit DER Zombiestreifen der alle Zombiefilme seit DAY in den Schatten stellt - auch wenn auch bei LAND schon einige moderne Einflüsse dabei waren....
Aber um das geht es hier eigenlich nicht.... :icon_rolleyes:
Also ich würde zwar lieber einen weiteren Zombiefilm von ihm sehen, aber der gute hat mich noch nie enttäuscht. Vorlagen kann Romero zudem erfahrungsgemäß auch sehr gut umsetzen ("The Dark Half" ist nach wie vor meine Lieblingsverfilmung eines King-Romans).
also ich muss sagen, das ich "land" grauenhaft fand .. da finde ich es schon besser, wenn er sich anderen themen (wie zsbp King verfilmungen) widmet anstatt das von ihm mehr oder weniger geschaffene genre mit zombies die anfangen zu kommunizieren und eigentlich auch nur leben wollen zu zerstören ;)

DEm kann ich mich nur anschliessen. Nach Bruiser dachte ich kann es nicht mehr abwärts gehen, aber Irrtum!
Also Land war nicht schlecht, aber gegen das Dawn Of The Dead Remake kommt er noch lange nicht an. Das Romero sich über das DOTD Remake beschwert finde ich lächerlich. Also wenn er einen neuen Film macht schließe ich mich den anderen an, soll er lieber was von King verfilmen.

Ich mein vor 10 Jahren fand ich DotD auch geil.
Wenn ich ihn heut seh, muß ich gegen die Müdigkeit kämpfen.
Das Remake ist wirklich sehr gelungen.
Also ich finde das Original viel besser. Der Film hatte ja auch ein sozialkritische Aussage. Vom Splattergehalt konnte ich auch nicht meckern. Das Remake war auch gut, aber das Original ist einfach genial.
Ob der nächste Film von ihm auch gut sein wird, werden wir ja sehen, aber ich bin optimistisch.

Ich mochte Land auch war geil und wieder ein richtig cool gemachter Zombiestreifen, sowie eine konsquente Fortsetzung des Stoffes.

Also die Story ist schon recht interessant, wenn auch noch recht grobe umschrieben. Und da Romero phantastisch düstere Atmospheren schaffen kann wird es bestimmt ein prima Filmchen ohne nonstop Videoclipgeschnipsel wie bei den neuen Geisterfilm-Remakes aus Japan :scar: :scar: :scar:. Gerade eine Insel stell ich mir sehr stimungsvoll vor. Wenn dann noch etwas Gore dazu kommt....... :icon_twisted:
"Bruiser" find ich übrigens brilliant. Versteh nicht warum den so viele scheisse finden. Von Romero sind eigentlich alle Filme spitze, egal ob nun mit oder ohne Zombies.
Denke das auch soweit. Wenn "Schorsch" es richtig anstellt sollte daraus ein cooler Horrorfilm werden der sich gewaschen hat. Bin jedenfalls ziemlich Optimistisch.
Nach dem schwachen "Land" scheint es nun nahtlos weiter bergab zu gehen ... "Blair Witch Einflüsse" ... ?!?! :doof:

Romero is once again on top of the zombie world and ready for another mouthful of flesh. We broke the news way back last summer that Romero wanted to begin a brand new trilogy of the dead, starting with Land, with the second film being entitled World of the Dead. No news has surfaced since then and I had thought that maybe it was dead in the water - but alas I was wrong! Welcome to George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead! The Hollywood Reporter writes that horror maven George A. Romero has signed on to write and direct "George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead," the latest sequel to his 1968 cult classic "Night of the Living Dead."
With a story mixing elements of "The Blair Witch Project" and the long-running "Dead" series, the film will follow a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a "cinema verite" style that causes more than the usual production headaches.
After going more than two decades without making an independently financed zombie film, Romero told his production partner Peter Grunwald he was frustrated working within the system. "I was trying to convince Peter we could just run off and do it ourselves," he said.

Sind doch alles erst Gerüchte. Wird letztlich bestimmt wieder alles ganz anders aussehen. Da vorher aber noch das DAY-Remake erscheint, wird Romero wohl wieder die Arschkarte haben, weil er den Schnitt- und Actionverwöhnten nicht das bieten kann, was sie sich für ihre Popcorndreschrei erhoffen. Mir soll's egal sein. Ich freue mich. Und wie.

Wenns die Fortsetztung der DEAD Reihe ist möchte ich doch mal hoffen das Romero endlich mal die Kohle bekommt der er wirklich braucht um den ultimativer Zombiefilm zu drehen... :respekt:
Anmerkung auch wenn es eigentlich in einen anderen Thread gehört: Warum dreht eigentlich nicht Romero das Day-Remake nach seinem eigentlichen Originaldrehbuch??? Bei Savinis Night-Remake war er auch ständig am Set und hat dem Film die entscheidenden Note gegeben... :bawling:

It was announced last week that George A. Romero would be returning to the zombie genre with Diary of the Dead. The plot that was revealed created quite a divided opinion through the web community, today even more was explained- stuff that might change a lot of your opinions on the new venture. Read on for the skinny. With a story mixing elements of "The Blair Witch Project" and the long-running "Dead" series, the film will follow a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. Diary will be going back to the time of the initial outbreak, according to Dread Central.
"I wanted a new set of characters and have them deal with these events as they first come," says Romero. "I also want to deal with things from a very different perspective." Romero continues, "I want to do this from a subjective kind of view with no music. You know, something really raw... so it's kind of a stylistic experiment, a low budget, under the radar kind of thing that's just sort of from the heart."
But here's the shocker, Romero is more interested in releasing in a direct-to-video capacity instead of theatrically, although that might happen as well, DC writes.

...tja, klingt immer mehr nach einem Re-Imagining statt einem folgenden Teil der Reihe. Und Romero sollte imo nicht mit "BW"-Einflüssen experimentieren - das ist nicht seine Kragenweite. Wenn, dann sollte er bei dem old-school-Stil bleiben. :icon_confused:
We've received confirmation from two separate sources that Night of the Living Dead Director George A. Romero collapsed last week and was hospitalized. No word yet on the reason for the collapse, but it doesn't look good as the start date for Diary of the Dead has been pushed back two months. In addition, he has also canceled his personal appearances for the next couple of months, therefor he won't be appearing at Eerie or Shock and Rock. Inside we have a little note from Chris Roe that gives a little more confirmation to this horrible news. All of our best goes out to George and his family. Get well soon!!

"PLEASE NOTE: "It is with great saddness and regret that I must inform you that Mr. Romero will be unable to attend Rock and Shock this year. Due to unforseen medical reasons, which are not life threatening, Mr Romero has been given doctors orders not to travel for the next few weeks. Oh Mann, ich habe angesichts des Making-Ofs von LAND schon länger die "Angst", dass der gute nicht mehr lange hat. Ich hoffe, er kommt wieder auf die Beine. Muss doch wenigstens einen geben, der halbwegs ordentliche Genrefilme fabriziert.

Jo gute Besserung George! Schon als ich ihn am Filmfestival Neuchatel vor 2 Monaten getroffen habe, merkte man sein Alter richtig an... dazu raucht der abartig mal eins ab. Hoffen wir dass die legendären Regisseure doch noch einige Filme auf die Beine stellen können und die New Generation auf den richtigen Weg führen.

I got word from George's manager that George is doing fine and that the media blew this way out of proportion and that George is not in the hospital, they took a simple statement and blew it out of proportion. George has been in meetings for DIARY OF THE DEAD this week. (Bloody Disgusting)

Shawn Roberts (Land of the Dead) is the first to be cast in George A Romero's Diary of the Dead, which is currently lensing in Toronto, Canada, according to Variety. Dread Central adds that Joshua Close (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), Michelle Morgan (Alien Fire), Jon Dinicoi (Weirdsville), Phillip Riccio (Rent-A-Goallie), and Scott Wentworth (Elizabeth Rex) have also joined!
