This evening the Screamfest Horror Film Festival held their awards ceremony where Toby Wilkins' Splinter took home a record 6 awards: Best Editing (David Michael Maurer), Best Score (Elia Cmiral), Best Special Effects (Quantum Creation FX), Best Make-Up (Ozzy Alverez, Danielle Noe), Best Directing (Toby Wilkins) and Best Picture).  Bloody Disgusting

Even as SPLINTER just opened this past weekend in limited theatrical release (and if you can check out the movie on the big screen, you should), Magnolia Home Entertainment has already announced details of the DVD, and released the cover art. The disc streets January 27 on the Magnet label.

Blu-Ray habe ich vorbestellt! 30.3 ist der Termin in England

Feines Fresschen für den Horrorfreund wird uns mit Splinter serviert.
Der Film fängt ziemlich schnell an und läßt im Endeffekt nie nach. Blutige bzw. brutale Effekte schmecken die doch etwas andere Geschichte gut ab.
Viele Ähnlichkeiten mit Filmen wie Virus, Terminator 2, The Thing sowie Critters stören keineswegs, sondern wurden zu einem netten Horrorfilm zusammengesetzt, den man sich gerne ein zweites Mal anschauen kann. Das Ende ist auch typisch für einen Genrefilm, keine Überraschung hier.
Einziger Negativpunkt war für mich die doch etwas schnellen Schnitte, das hätte man etwas langsamer und expliziter angehen können.
Gebe ihm dann 6/10 Punkten.
