Neben Regisseur Wilson Yip und Hauptdarsteller Donnie Yen, sind einige aus dem 1. Teil, hier wieder mit dabei, wie zb. Darsteller Lynn Hung Doi-Lam, Fan Siu Wong und Gordon Lam Ka-Tung. Ob Simon Yam auch dabei ist ist nicht bekannt, wünsche es mir aber. ;) Für die Action wird wieder Sammo Hung verantwortlich sein, diesmal wohl ohne Tony Leung Siu-Hung, da dieser beim Ip Man prequel mit arbeitet. Sammo hat auch eine Rolle im Film. Laut ersten Berichten, wird er den Meister einer Schule spielen, welcher sich mit Ip Man duellieren wird.

Wie schon bei Ip Man, sind hier Sin Kwok Lam als Produzent, und Tony Leung Siu Hung als Kampf-Choregraph, verantwortlich.

Ip Chun, der älteste Sohn von Ip Man, wird als Berater dienen und hat auch eine kleine Rolle als Ip Mans zweiter Lehrmeister Leung Bik. Zwei Drittel des Filmes werden in Foshan gedreht, inklusive dem Dorf in welchem Ip Man lebte.

Erzählt wird aus dem Leben von Ip Man im Alter von 11 bis 28 Jahren.

Na das sind doch mal echt tolle Neuigkeiten! Ip Man 1 konnte mich bereits vollends überzeugen. Ich hab schon seit langer Zeit nicht mehr so gut choreographierte Kämpfe gesehen. Denke der zweite Teil wird in diesem Punkt auch zu überzeugen wissen. Freut mich zu lesen, dass Sammo Hung im Prequel eine Rolle übernehmen wird.

When Would Bruce Lee Show Up?

However, Wilson Yip is less certain about Bruce Lee scenes, "When filming the first instalment, I was already being asked about Bruce Lee, though eventually, we didn't have him. In this sequel, we looked for a suitable candidate, and have completed his scenes. However, in the current 2.5 hours cut, I still have little inkling of which part of the film to put his scenes, and for how long."


Donnie Yen Not Keen on Ip Man 3

While there is an intention to shoot the third instalment as a conclusion to the film saga, Donnie Yen is having his misgivings, "Because Ip Man 2 will incontrovertibly become a classic, bettering the first. I believe it's best to end something when it's at perfection, and leave behind a good memory.

"A successful film is a successful commercial product, once it has reached a certain position, I'd rather let it be a classic forever, as opposed to taking the risk to attempt outdoing it yet again. It would be very difficult to do the third instalment. Perhaps, after a few years, when the director finds a new angle, we could talk about it later."

Still Donnie Yen doesn't dismiss the idea of teaming up with Wilson Yip again, but it could be something else, rather than Ip Man 3.

Donnie Yen also denies that he's retiring anytime soon, he is doing Legend of Chen Zhen in mid November and has 2 more films in works next year, while 14 Blades 2 and Ip Man 3 are also being planned, "Every film I do is an actioner, so after doing it, I feel extremely worn out, and at that time, I would often think of having an early retirement. But, after a bit of rest, I'd be raring to receive the next challenge, so, I would still be around for a while."


The Ultimate Duel - Sammo vs. Donnie

No longer able to put up with Sammo Hung's well-decorated Hung Gar master Hung Jan Nam who has been riding roughshod over them, Donnie Yen's Ip Man storms Hung Jan Nam's Society of National Martial Arts to do let his hands do the talking. Ip Man accuses Hung Jan Nam of working for the British colonial government, and taking their money.

Hung Jan Nam argues that it's he who has been facilitating communications with the British, and helps safeguard the interests of the various martial arts clubs in Hong Kong. And thus, the most anticipated battle between Hung Gar and Wing Chun commences. However, Hung Jan Nam is not totally irredeemable, and Ip Man will eventually have to face the British and their (hired?) fighter(s).

OMFG! Wenn das stimmt, dann aber hallo. Obwohl ich Ip Man nicht besonders toll fand, so sehe ich SPL als ziemlich genialen Film mit extrem guten Kampfchoreographien an! Alleine der Endkampf zwischen Sammo und Donnie waren einfach nur geil! Davon ab gehen Sammo und Donnie eh immer!

Du hast Recht behalten. Unzwar sehr!
Hier wird ganz großes Martial-Arts Kino zelebriert, mit viel Gefühl und bahnbrechenden Kampfchoreographien.

Und das obwohl:

Ich oute mich jetzt mal als nicht besonders großer Donnie Yen Fan! Irgendwie ist mir sein Kampfstil, bzw. die Inszenierung dessen meist zu hektisch.
Allerdings zähle ich dennoch Iron Monkey und jetzt auch Ip Man zu den besten Martial Arts Filmen überhaupt.
Bin wirklich sehr angetan von dem Streifen. Vielleicht sehe nur ich das so, aber für mich lieferten die MArtial Arts Streifen der letzten Jahre keine besonders guten Choreographien, entweder sie waren zu hektisch geschnitten oder es wurde zu viel Wire Work eingesetzt, oder die Gegner setzen sich nur sehr halbherzig zur Wehr ( in fast allen Filmen aus dem südost-asiatischen Bereich, Thailand, Vietnam etc.!! ).
Abgesehen vom Jackie Chan/Jet Lee Kampf in "Forbidden Kingdom" habe ich seit "Fearless" keine so guten Kämpfe mehr gesehen ( das sind immerhin 4 Jahre und unzählige Martial-Arts Filme)!!

Ehrlich gesagt wüsste ich keinen Grund, dem Film nicht 10/10 Punkten zu geben!!

So, noch was zum kommenden 2. Teil:

Ip Man 2 has been pushed forward to April 29, 2010 because Donnie Yen is so sick of his character that he wants it over with quickly. This is also due to the fact that after the success of the first movie, lots of other Ip Man movies have been made (Just like what we saw with the Wong Fei Hung character).

Auf der einen Seite freue ich mich natürlich ihn früher sehen zu können, aber andererseits mache ich mir auch gedanken, ob der film so gut wird, wie er mit mehr Zeit geworden wäre, vorallem das Donnie von der Rolle so angepisst zu sein scheint stimmt Nachdenklich...

Ein Meisterwerk wird er dennoch werden, da bin ich mir sicher und Donnie hats außerdem versprochen. ;)

Wilson Yip says, Yes to Ip Man 3

While both Donnie Yen and Rayomond are not keen on a third Ip Man film, director Wilson Yip doesn't rule out the possibility, "I can do three instalments at most on the subject matter of Yip Man. When I was filming the first, everyone asked about Bruce Lee. At that time, I had already thought of tracing the story until Bruce Lee's death in 1972. So, it's not a problem to shoot sequels, for I have already considered some of these stories. The second instalment is about Yip Man's life in Hong Kong, and accepting his first disciple.

"If I were to shoot Ip Man 3, then it must be on Yip Man and Bruce Lee. But I have to emphasise that it's really, really difficult to find a Bruce Lee actor, it would be very problematic if not handled well. I hope to find one with the looks, but at the same time, he must be trained in martial arts and be a self-possessed actor. But the audience would only want to see one who looks very much like Bruce Lee. If I couldn't find a suitable person, it'd be very difficult to shoot the third instalment.

"To Donnie Yen, to play the same character and still improve upon it is indeed very hard, but he has done a great job in the sequel. Being set in 1950s Hong Kong, everything has changed since Ip Man left Foshan, so Donnie Yen watched lots of Cantonese films of the era, to observe how the actors acted back then, and he has become very natural. He is no more a kungfu star, but a good actor acknowledged by everyone.

"As a form of tribute to old school kungfu movies, a few older Hong Kong martial arts stars were invited play masters of different schools. There are three types of kungfu being pitted against Wing Chun in this scene, very thrilling. Ip Man 2 succeeds the hardcore fighting of the original, as we are not shooting a wuxia film. Rather than fighting on a rope, we put two people on the table, the one who falls, loses.

"In this film, the Caucasian fighter (Darren Shahlavi) has his own drama, he is also a personage, not just some random foreign guy that appears from nowhere for the sake of getting beaten up, like you see in other films. Only when there is a conflict of interests would there be a duel in the arena, eventually demonstrating the theme of mutual respect, this is a very satisfactory ending."


Raymond Wong plans Yen-Jaa collaboration

Producer Raymond Wong says that Sammo Hung is very, very professional in work, "While doing a scene, he was hit in the head by a Westerner, passing out right away, worrying all of us. When he was treated and regained consciousness, there was blood on his mouth. We wanted to send him to the hospital without delay, but he refused adamantly, insisting on finishing the day's schedule before going to the hospital. Such is the typical attitude of the filmmakers of the previous generation."

Raymond Wong adds that Ip Man would stop at the second film for now, "When we shot the first film, it was based on factual events, we were more cautious in our approach, for it was meant his descendants, as well as the audience. After the success of the first, in the second, we're more imaginative, exercising more creative latitude. But, now, with too many other Yip Man films on the market, we don't have the intention to do it any more."

And so, Raymond Wong is moving on to the pre-production of another project for Donnie Yen, a contemporary actioner that will potentially see team him up with Tony Jaa, fighting from The Great Wall, through Hong Kong, to South Africa.  (Quelle: wu-jing)

Naja, auch wenn ich Tony mag, so hoffe ich doch, dass Donnie Yen ihn ordentlich vermoebelt, der ist einfach viel cooler.  ;)

Leider mehr Lahm-Arsch wie Bad-Ass in diesen 10 Minuten.  :bawling:

Hat mir leider gar nicht gefallen, das gezeigt war mMn schlecht choreographiert und viel zuviel Wirework.
Was hat das noch mit WT zu tun?
Der Kampf auf dem Tisch war auch total dämlich.

Schade, der erste hat mir richtig gut gefallen und die Kämpfe waren top.

Mal schauen wie die restlichen 80 Minuten sein werden.

Also in den 10 min. sind Massenhaft WT Techniken drin, dann sind da noch die charackteristischen Schmetterlingstechniken bei (gut das sind zwar keine Schmetterlingsmesser aber sehr ähnlich) .

Was mir nicht so ganz gepasst hat , gerade am Anfang ist der Schnitt der Kampfszene, wirkte am Anfang irgendwie unfertig.

So, habe nun Ip Man 2 sichten dürfen.

Leider bestätigt sich mein schlechter Eindruck aus den Trailern, der Film reiht sich 3 bis 4 Stufen unter seinem Vörgänger ein.

Spoiler: zeige

War der erste Teil ein kleines Epos über den Werdegang des Wing Tsung Meisters Ip Man, so ist der zweite Teil, vor allem von der Story her, eine DTV Fortsetzung.
Klar, ein Portrait mit Ecken und Kanten, war jetzt Ip Man auch nicht, aber es wurde ein kleines Epos mit schönem Setting und einigen kleinen dramatischen Elementen gezeigt, welches zumindest mich überzeugen konnte.

In der Fortsetzung gibt es bei Ip Man keinerlei charakterliche Weiterentwicklung, die Handlung besteht um Grunde nur darin eine Kampfschule zu eröffnen, welche von den anderen Großmeistern genehmigt werden muss.
Genügend Zeit für Kampfszenen:

Diese sind, wie ich bei der Sichtung des Trailers schon vermutete, schlecht.
Es gibt viel Wirework, welches gerade bei Sammo Hung einfach nur schlecht aussieht. Waren in Teil 1 realistisch (anmutendes) WT und Karate zu sehen, so gibt es hier "Jet Li- Kung Fu" zu sehen, welches einfach nicht zu passen scheint.
Als dann gegen Ende des Filmes noch ein Fight zwischen Sammo und einem westlichen Boxer (mit Boxhandschuhen!!!) im Boxring ansteht, findet man sich vollkommen in einem B-Movie wieder.
In den Rundenpausen trinkt der Boxer Wasser aus der Wasserflasche und der traditionelle Chinese trinkt natürlich Tee(!?)
Auch in diesen Kampfszenen wirkt Wire Fu mit Sammo gegen einen Boxer total banane, es passt einfach nicht zusammen.

Zu den Darstellern: Simon Yam wird total verheizt, eine sehr undankbare Rolle wenn man vor 18 Jahren "Bullet in the Head" gesehen hat. Donnie wirkt ein wenig lustlos, mag vielleicht auch an der Rolle gelegen haben.
Sammo hatte hier nochmal seinen zweiten Frühling, sollte aber das Kämpfen so langsam sein lassen und hinter der Kamera Platz nehmen, das macht er nämlich ganz ordentlich.
Der englische Boxer stellt ein solches Overacting zur Schau, so dass fremdschämen angesagt ist

Ich denke es wird einige geben die mir hier noch widersprechen werden, aber ich war einfach nur enttäuscht.
Wirkt für mich wie ein schnell abgedrehtes Filmchen um die Kuh zu melken.
Story lahm, Darsteller mittelmaß, Kampfszenen ok bis sehr schlecht..

Wirklich schade. 4/10

In The Legend is Born: Ip Man, directed by Herman Yau, the legendary Sammo Hung returns along with action star Fan Siu Wong and To Yu Hang, the youngest martial arts world champion Hong Kong has ever produced. Playing minor parts in the original films, To Yu Hang is asked to take over as the young Ip Man here. Yuen Biao, Huang Yi, Bernice Liu, Rose Chan, Xu Jiao, and Lam Suet are among the new cast members, but the film's most surprising performance probably belongs to the 86-year-old screen novice Yip Chun, the real-life Yip Man's son who curiously plays the master of his father.

In his childhood, Yip Man was initiated into Wing Chun under the tutelage of Master Chan Wah Shun (Sammo Hung). After Chan's death, Yip Man follows senior schoolmate Ng Chung So (Yuen Biao) as his new mentor alongside his brother Ip Tin Chi (Fan Siu Wong) and good friend Lee Mei Wai (Rose Chan). Later, the teenage Ip Man (To Yu Hang) opts to leave Foshan to pursue education in Hong Kong, where he meets his third teacher Leung Bik (Yip Chun), a master of an unorthodox school of Wing Chun. When he comes back to Foshan, Ip Man falls in love with the mayor's daughter, his future wife Cheung Wing Shing (Huang Yi). Meanwhile, Ip Man is confronted by Ng Chung So and faced with the dilemma of whether to follow through with his training under Leung Bik. And, unbeknownst to everyone, Tin Chi seems to harbor a secret that threatens to put the whole nation in jeopardy...

Ich freu' mich schon auf Ip Chun, wäre cool, wenn es ein Plakat nur mit ihm drauf gäbe. Einfach nur faszinierend, vorallem IN DEM ALTER :icon_eek::

Das Video ist einer der besten Kung Fu-Filme, finde ich. :icon_mrgreen: Wird nie langweilig und zeigt echtes Wing Chun und nicht die konditionierte Scheisse die von gewissen Prügelknaben aus gewissen Schlössern propagiert und womit die Leute abgezockt werden, nur damit irgendein Scheiss-Grad im Pass steht. Das ist so erbärmlich im Gegensatz zu dem was hier geboten wird. Hab mal gelesen, dass Wing Chun unter anderem "Die namenlose Faust" genannt wird/wurde, was auf techniklose, freie Bewegungen hindeutet, weiterhin wurde es auch "ewige Lebenskraft" genannt, was wohl das Phänomen Ip Chun (u.a.) erklären dürfte. :icon_smile: Manche sagen es hat nichts mit Magie zu tun, ist evtl. auch so, aber in unserer Gesellschaft muss man es wohl Magie nennen. ;)

Jo vollkommen richtig, mit einer ordentlichen WT Schule find ich den Stil auch interessant obwohl er recht minimalistisch ist.

Deutscher Release war ja vor ein paar Tagen - hab ihn nun auch angesehen.

Nicht ganz so gut wie der erste aber immer noch sehr schöne Kämpfe. Hat mich leider ein bisschen an Born To Defense erinnert, den ich auch nicht so geil fand. Dieses Gemische von Boxen gegen asiatische Kampfkunst gefällt mir im Film einfach nicht.

Ip Man 2 hat mich (bestimmt auch wegen des epischen Vorgängers) entäuscht. Der Tischkampf ist unerhört lächerlich, und überhaupt hätte man sich imo auf einen Gegner (den Boxer) beschränken und diesen besser aufbauen sollen. Die Kämpfe waren lahm und Donnie sah aus, wie ich mich gefühlt habe... gelangweilt.

Nach den negativen Kritiken von euch beiden bin ich jetzt etwas verunsichert. Der Film sollte eigentlich ein Blindkauf werden. Naja, dann muss ich ihn wohl erst mal in der Videothek ausleihen...

Ja, ich würde dir raten wirklich vorher zu leihen.
Ich bin ein großer Donnie Yen Fan, aber diesen Film werd ich mir nicht zulegen obwohl das Cover der deutschen Fassung echt schön geworden ist.
Viel schöner als beim Erstling, meiner Meinung nach.
