There is a new martial arts movie coming from Malaysia following the 2008 release of C. L. Hor's KINTA 1881. Beginning May 26th 2009, production began on local writer-director Michael Chuah Ghiap-hun's first action movie, based on a script he completed last year and featuring the filmmaker himself in the lead.

Budgeted at US$1 million, its a contemporary actioner about a man named Li (Chuah) who travels from China to a small town in Malaysia to help his financially-imperiled uncle. Li discovers that his uncle is in trouble with local mobsters. When he decides to teach them a lesson, Li incurs the wrath of the triads who threaten the entire town.

Fiona Xie and Henry Thia, both Singaporean actors, co-star along with Chinese actress Wang Xiao-chen (LEGEND OF CONDOR HEROES).

Co-production between Singapore's Fusian Media and China's Desen International Media in association with Malaysia's Evo Pictures.

"Fist of Dragon" tells the story of Li, who comes to South East Asia by the request of his father to help out his uncle who has been facing financial difficulties. Li, upon arriving in the town, feels out of place due to the differences in cultures of the people here. When he discovers that his uncle has been facing many hardships posed by the local mobsters, Li decides to stay and to help his uncle and get rid of them. However, Li encounters resistance from the locals as Li's action brings the wrath of the triad and drags the whole town into turmoil. Moreover, his uncle's daughter, Lily is on the triad side, and their relationship is badly affected when the confrontation between the two groups reach its peak.

Michael Chuah, director of the Malaysian horror film Seed of Darkness has been working hard at the Singaporean action film titled Fist Of Dragon or Long, Quan (previously known as Long De Quan Ren). Not only is he directing the film but due to a contractual issue with his hired lead actor he found himself nominated by his producers to fill the new void and play the lead. Fist of Dragon also features Singaporean actors Fiona Xie (Rule#1) and Henry Thia (Love Matters) and China actress Wang Xiao Chen (Legend Of The Condor Heroes). The film is set to open in March of 2010.
