Nachdem das Zuhause von friedlichen Wildkaninchen zerstört wird, sind sie gezwungen sich auf eine lange Reise zu begeben. Meine Fresse die alte Serie und der Film war damals mit ziemlich expliziten Gewaltgrad, sowas wirds hier wohl kaum mehr zu sehen geben.

Computeranimiertes Miniserien-Remake des Zeichentrick-Klassikers von 1978 mit einer Top-Besetzung als Sprecher: James McAvoy, Peter Capaldi, Rosamund Pike, Ben Kingsley, John Boyega, Gemma Chan, Nicholas Hoult u. a.

Nach 40 Jahren kann man natürlich schon mal ein Remake machen. Leider sehen die Animationen unterirdisch aus - so wie auf dem technischen Stand vor etwa 15-20 Jahren.

Tolle Besetzung, aber die Animationen sind wirklich unterirdisch und zerstören für mich das Interesse völlig. Wo der Film von damals einen recht grotesk-realistischen und ruppigen Zeichentrickstil besaß, sieht das hier ja doch sehr detailarm aus. Macht damit auch das Remake an sich irgendwie sinnfrei, das sahen ja sogar Videospiel-Cutscenes von vor zehn Jahren besser aus.

Die Kommentare unter dem Trailer sind aber amüsant:

Jip, die Animation sieht wirklich nicht sonderlich gut aus.
Das wird natürlich auch in vielen der bisherigen Reviews thematisiert - so z.B. bei Joblo.com:

...Watership Down is a great story and has a great cast assembled. Under the direction of Noam Murro, the tale feels fresh and is a more comprehensive and faithful adaptation of the book than the animated feature film or television series. The pacing is a bit slow and is a little stretched over five episodes, but fans of the book will enjoy seeing the story told for a new generation. Despite that, the animation is just lacking enough nuance to make this feel as epic as it needs to. Adults may be turned off by the animation style and younger viewers may mistakenly think this is appropriate for them (it is not). This production is perfect for the demographic that is looking for something edgier than Disney but may not be quite ready for Marvel. Everyone else will be enthralled by the layered story but bored by the lackluster animation. (7/10)
