Jane to Topline The Mutant Chronicles

Producer Ed Pressman's Pressman & Co. Films production company has signed The Punisher star Thomas Jane to topline its sci-fi/action epic The Mutant Chronicles, based on the role-playing board game of the same name.
The story is set in the 23rd century, in which four giant corporations have pillaged the last of the planet's resources, causing a demonic, marauding army of underworld NecroMutants to wage war against humans for what remains. Jane will play a battle-weary Marine who leads a squad of soldiers against the alien hordes.
Simon Hunter will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Ross Jameson.
Pressman, Stephan Belafonte, Pras Michel and Tim Dennison will produce, along with Alessandro Camon. Paradox Entertainment's Peter Sederowski and Fred Malmberg will serve as executive producers.
The Mutant Chronicles is scheduled to start filming in the spring with casting currently under way.

John Malkovich is portraying a 23rd century corporate overlord opposite Thomas Jane in Simon Hunter's sci-fi action thriller The Mutant Chronicles, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Malkovich's character Constantine heads a United Nations-style council of four corporation-run countries that have pillaged Earth's natural resources. When a marauding army of "NecroMutants" wages a battle against humans for the little that remains, Constantine is tempted to destroy the planet and evacuate some of its people rather than allow it to be overtaken, all with the corporations' best interests in mind.
Jane plays Maj. Mitch Hunter, a Marine who leads the humans in their fight and becomes Constantine's antagonist. The story is based on the popular role-playing board game. Edward J. Pressman produces.

Stephen Rea (V For Vendetta) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) have joined Thomas Jane and John Malkovich in The Mutant Chronicles, a sci-fi action thriller based on the popular role-playing game, says The Hollywood Reporter.

German actor Benno Furmann (Joyeux Noel) also has joined the cast of the indie production, set to begin shooting in the summer with director Simon Hunter.

Rea plays the former commander of Lieutenant Mitch Hunter (Jane), a 23rd century Marine who tries to save Earth by leading a band of soldiers against evil NecroMutants. Perlman portrays the leader of a religious sect who thinks he can destroy the mutants and save the planet, recruiting Hunter to join him.

Furmann portrays Hunter's former nemesis who joins him to fight for the greater good, and Malkovich appears as the head of a council of corporations that rule the Earth.

Da freu ich mich drauf, klingt für mich irgendwie ähnlich wie das Rollenspiel Fallout (vielleicht ja nur für mich :icon_redface:) und das ist absolut eines meiner Lieblingsspiele!

Na hoffentlich vergeigen die das nicht wie "Doom". Wenn die das Ding richtig anfassen wollen, muss der Film extrem düster und zynisch sein. Mich würde es jedenfalls freuen.

Wenn man das Poster sieht und dazu die Inhaltsangabe liest, ist eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit zu Starship Troopers nicht von der Hand zuweisen. Gewollt?

Leider noch sehr wenig zu sehen oder wirklich drüber bekannt, aber der Cast sieht für einen solchen Film einfach ziemlich gut aus. Und ich kann Phil nur recht geben, irgendwie "Fallout"-mäßig und das finde ich schon ziemlich cool. Es gibt einfach zu wenige Endzeit-Filme, die auch ein bisschen Geld zur Verfügung haben (gibt es überhaupt welche?!). Aber das Thema ist doch einfach ziemlich gut! Bis jetzt freu ich mich tierisch!

Auf dem Poster wird man im 23. Jahrhundert willkommen geheißen, das Kriegsgeschehen spielt aber im Jahr 2707.

4 Fraktionen, die die Welt aufgeteilt haben (Imperial, Mishima, Capitol und Bauhaus); Fürmann (Steiner  :LOL: ) darf auch im O-Ton deutsch Kommandos schreien (laut seinem B-Log), Jane und Pertwee mimen die toug-roughen Amerikaner (Capitols) und Perlman gibt sich kurz vor Hellboy 2 als Mönch die Ehre...

Ja, fand den sehr gut, obwohl viele CGI-Effekte enthalten sind, hat er Spass gemacht. Düstere Atmosphere, gut aufgelegte Mimen, ordentlich Action und bizarre Einfälle. Sehr kurzweiliges, außergewöhnliches Horror-Action-Abenteuer. :respekt:

Hallo,
hab den gerade gesehen und fand ihn absolut unterirdisch. Mußte sofort an Uwe B. denken.  Von A-Z zusammengeklaute (HdR ,Resident Evil) trotzdem völlig abstruse Story, billige Optik, völlig überladen, miese Effekte. Man sieht überdeutlich wie die Schauspieler vor der BlueScreen rumhampeln, schlechtes CGI-Blut usw. Weiß gar nicht was Malkovich, Jane & Perlman in so einer Gurke verloren haben, kann nur an Knebelverträgen mit dem Studio liegen. Gerade Jane, Pertwee und Perlman wurden so unglaubliche Plattheiten in den Mund gelegt, dass es weh tut ! Kein Wunder das der nicht im Kino war. :anime:
Die ersten 15 min gehen als Kriegsaction in Ordnung, der Rest - ab in die Tonne, jedenfalls nach meinem Geschmack, aber Geschmäcker sind ja unterschiedlich.

Der Film ging auf jeden Fall in Ordnung. Teilweise wurden zwar arg Klischees bedient und Ron Pearlman als Priester war auch nicht soo der bringer, aber im ganzen ganz unterhaltsame Endzeit-Action. Am Ende hin kam es mir wie ein Computerspiel vor:

Wie die Gruppe da in der einen Halle über die dünnen Wege balanciert und am Ende über Drehende Plattformen, die auch noch Feuerspucken hüpfen.  :icon_rolleyes: :icon_lol:
Ziemlich Amüsant war auch der Name des einen Konzerns: "Bauhaus" :LOL: (die hätten bestimmt den Krieg gewonnen, weil die anderen mit der "20% auf alles Aktion" nicht hätten mithalten können im Notfall auch auf Tiernahrung :algo: :rofl:)
