Eventuell richtig gute Neuigkeiten!  :D

Out of all the news we've brought you over the past several years, this has got to be one of the best... Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively that both Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury are in hard negotiations to helm the remake of Clive Barker's Hellraiser for Dimension Films! If you've been keeping up with us during TIFF, you'd know that we flipped over the duo's horror film, "Inside" (À l'intérieur), which the Weinstein's acquired in Cannes. Just wait until you see this movie, it's going to restore your faith in this remake. We'll keep you posted when the news becomes official.

During the 40th Sitges Film Festival, the Twitch Film web site did an interview with the directors of À L'INTÉRIEUR about them directing the remake of Clive Barker's classic. Here's what was said:

Alexandre Bustillo: We are actually writing the script right now and we don't want to remake exactly the Cliver Barker movie. We have met Clive and told him what we want to do with HELLRAISER and he said, "It's f**king good do it!" We are happy to have his benediction. It will not be a remake. It will still be called HELLRAISER and it will have a new Pinhead.

Julien Maury: It's more of an adaptation.

Alexandre Bustillo: With our vision we want to be very fair to the cinephile fans of HELLRAISER. We want to make something very different and something new with it.

Julien Maury: Clive is 100% behind us and that makes us really assured.

Alexandre Bustillo: It will be very different. It won't be like the original HELLRAISER or that series of movies. We are big fans of the original but we don't want to do it as a remake since that would be complete nonsense to do [or approach] it that way. Our story is very very different I promise! wollte dafür jetzt keinen Thread eröffnen. War gerade beim Famila und entdeckte dort eine von Kinowelt rausgebrachte DVD von Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. Auf dem Cover war ein Aufkleber wo draufsteht: "Empfohlen von ofdb.de - Der Online Filmdatenbank" unten auf der DVD "Geschnittne Fassung" Da dachte ich mir: Was soll das denn?? Wirft nicht gerade ein gutes Bild auf die Site.

Das Remake scheint jetzt auf den Namen Clive Barker Presents: Hellraiser zu hören und könnte im September diesen Jahres in die US Kinos kommen. Vielleicht bekommt man den Film also dieses Jahr zu sehen...ich würde mich freuen wenn dem so ist.

Schade, hatte gehofft das man ihn noch dieses Jahr - egal ob auf DVD oder im Kino - zu sehen bekommt...müssen wir uns wohl noch etwas länger gedulden...

Schade, dass er verschoben wurde, aber ich begrüße die Entscheidung einen völlig neuen Weg zu gehen. Ansonsten hätte ein "Remake" für mich keinen Sinn.

Begründung:

It's time to give the Weinstein brothers some props... I've always felt that there was a lack of heart and a lack of caring about the development of films over at Dimension. Obviously making money is their number one priority, but it's nice to hear that they're not just trying to push out product without cleaning it thoroughly. I received a call this morning in response to our news that Dimension had delayed the release of their Hellraiser remake until 2009. Apparently they weren't 100% happy with Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury's screenplay and have decided to take the film to other writers - so we're now back at square one. The French duo are still attached to helm the pic, which is great news for anyone who has seen Inside, one of my all-time favorite horror films. But like I said, it's nice to see the Weinsteins concerned about the quality of our beloved franchise. Mucho props! Until 2009... (Bloody Disgusting)

Wanted: New Director(s) for 'Hellraiser' Remake

Update: We have confirmed that the directors are officially OFF the project. We heard some very disconcerting news last Monday that we were able to confirm over the past week. From what we were told by various sources, the Weinstein Company is seeking a new director for their remake of Hellraiser. What's not clear yet is whether or not Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury - who directed the astounding French horror film INSIDE - is officially off the project. If there were two people in this world I'd trust with the project, it would be those two. What could have happened to leave Dimension seeking a director? All I know is that I'm extremely disappointed by this news, and because of it I no longer care about the project until I hear something that sparks my interest again. We'll continue to dig on this story Monday, hopefully we'll find out something more official. (Bloody Disgusting)

Wär das absolut abwegig und/oder unmöglich, dass Clive das nochmal selbst übernimmt? Nur mal so gebrainstormed, er ist doch so heiss hinter dem Remake...

Falls res Clive Fans hier interessiert, er hat sich für die Sorgen der Fans um seine Gesundheit bedankt und Folgendes erklärt (Quelle: clivebarker.info):

Was sind eigentlich die Gründe,wesshalb die ersten beiden noch nicht (offiziell) in Deutschland erschienen sind?Liegt das an rechtlichen Problemen oder stecken mal wieder unsere Jugendschützer dahinter?

Ich denke mit der SPIO/JK dürften die beiden Filme eigentlich keine Probleme kriegen.Die besitzen immerhin noch eine (super) Story und sind nicht solche dümmlichen Folterfilme wie "Hostel" und Co.

Außerdem ist der Markt wohl "leer" - ich z.Bsp. habe die Anchor Bay Scheiben, andere die Boots - würde sich allein wegen der Boots nicht lohnen...

Auf eine vernünftige Auflage von TExas Chainsaw Massacre (Hooper) müssen die "Deutsch-Synchro-Fanatiker" ja auch trotz Remake bis heute warten...

Saw Director Cutting into 'Hellraiser' Franchise?
Director Darren Lynn Bousman has officially been asked to direct the remake to Hellraiser, filling the shoes of the French filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (who left the project a few weeks ago). When we were initially told the news (probably the same night as other websites reporting this), we checked in with Bousman who still denies that he will have anything to do with the return of Pinhead. Even though the director of SAW II-IV claims to have nothing to do with the project, insiders tell us the Weinsteins WANT HIM on the project ASAP. This would re-team Bousman with SAW writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Watch or an update soon on something that's official. Bousman is currently prepping REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA for release via Lionsgate. (Bloody Disgusting)

Haha, falls es den Bousman wird. Die Kettenszene in SAW 3 hat mich schon extrem an Pinheads Bande erinnert, für solche Momente scheint Bousman wie geschaffen zu sein. Aber mal ganz ehrlich, bevor jetzt einer nach dem anderen abspringt, gefeuert wird oder weißichwasnoch, sollte man die Finger von Hellraiser lassen. Die Mona Lisa wird ja schliesslich auch nicht geremaked. :D

Ich finde das nicht gut, Bousman hat sich noch nicht als guter Regisseur erkenntlich gegeben - wenn man jetzt nach einem Remake schielt, dass der ganzen Goreseite nur noch einen draufsetzt, dann hoffe ich mal, dass Barker rechtzeitig die Reissleine zieht...

Mit den "Saw"-Sequels hat sich Bousman auf jeden Fall zumindest als ein solider Genre-Regisseur bewiesen und etabliert - und mit "Repo!" hat er nun ein Projekt gestemmt, das ungewöhnlich ist und zugleich überraschend gut bei Kritikern und Fans ankommt. Ich kann durchaus verstehen, warum die Gebrüder W ihn gern bei dem Projekt auf dem Regiestuhl sitzen hätten...

OK, warten wir Repo ab, da kann er sich als guter Regisseur beweisen, ich bleib dabei, dass Saw 2-4 keine guten Regisseurleistungen waren... Vieles mag an der immer platter werdenden Story gelegen haben, aber inszenatorisch waren die alles andere als ausgefeilt oder gut, immer nur auf den Goreeffekt gerichtet, schlechte Charakterisierung der Personen, sodass keine Identifizierungsmöglichkeit blieb, somit wurde jede Spannung ausgeschlossen. Starke Probleme mit dem Zwang wieder einen überraschenden Twist einzubauen, der den ersten Teil besonders machte...

Das will jetzt nicht heissen, dass Bousman ein ganz schlechter Regisseur ist, nein, das bestimmt nicht, aber um einem genialen Werk wie Hellraiser es meiner Meinung nach ist in einem Remake nur annähernd gerecht werden zu können, wünsche ich mir halt was Besseres, ob der Clive das mit seinem Drehbuch alleine reissen kann, weiss ich nicht.

Ich stehe dem Projekt halt sehr kritisch gegenüber, es klingt mir zu sehr nach Geldmache (die Weinsteins haben es ja auch bitter nötig!) - warum Clive da so mitzieht ist komisch, wenn er bei seinen alten Vorstellungen geblieben ist, die er mir zur Hellraiser Premiere persönlich in aller Ausführlichkeit darlegte, dann kann Horror gekoppelt mit Kommerz nicht funktionieren... Es wär schade, wenn er im Alter da etwas "milder" geworden ist...

Clive, schreib endlich dein Scarlet Gospel zuende und dann ist gut mit Pinhead!
