Victor Mancini is a medical-school dropout who has devised an ingenious scam to pay elder care for his Alzheimer's-afflicted mother: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be "saved" by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor's life, go on to send checks to support him. When he's not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park.

Das Buch ist sicher geil und steht schon ungefähr 3 Jahre ungelesen bei mir herum.. :icon_lol:
Aber wenn die Verfilmung kommt, muß es wenigstens vorher endlich gelesen werden..  :rofl:

Keine Ahnung. Hatte ihn mir damals angesehen - war alles halb so wild.

Wow, there's a red band trailer online for Choke, quite frankly I can't believe that this is red band, but then the MPAA are quite sexually backward, and it's not only uninteresting but it also seems to be advertising the film in the worst possible way.

To me it seems to be saying come to the cinema and see breasts and weird sexual activity that we've covered up for the trailer.

I don't see much appeal in this trailer and it comes down to whether you are instantly drawn to the names of Chuck Palahniuk and Sam Rockwell. If neither of these things are in the trailer or you didn't know about them then I don't think there's anything appealing in here...unless you're going to a sticky floor cinema wearing a long coat.

However the film is adapted from Palahniuk's novel, the man who wrote Fight Club and it stars Rockwell, Anjelica Huston and Kelly Macdonald. You know there may be something more interesting here, the problem is the marketing is all about cheap softcore sex on screen.

Interestingly the story is more about the fact that the lead character fakes choking on food in restaurants to illicit payments from concerned patrons and owners in order to pay for his mother's hospital bills. Yeah, where's that in the trailer? Doesn't matter, let's show breasts and sex. (filmstalker.co.uk)

Na Sex ist im Buch schon ein nicht ignorierbarer Part. Ich hoffe, die Mischung stimmt. Fight Club war bis auf wenige Abweichungen ja genau wie geschrieben. Eine der besten Romanverfilmungen jüngerer Zeit, wenn nicht die beste. Flug 2039 fand ich aber noch etwas filmtauglicher als Der Simulant. Bin mal gespannt.
