After being a stay-at-home mom for years, Vanessa recently returned to the workplace and was quickly promoted (much to the dismay of her primarily male co-workers). As a result of Vanessa's increased work load, Mike is pulled into more hands-on parenting than ever before.

SUBURGATORY

Single father George only wants the best for his 16-year-old daughter, Tessa. So when he finds a box of condoms on her nightstand, he moves them out of their apartment in New York City to a house in the suburbs. But all Tessa sees is the horror of over-manicured lawns and plastic Franken-moms. Being in the 'burbs can be hell, but it also may just bring Tessa and George closer than they've ever been.

Tessa (Jane Levy) and George (Jeremy Sisto) have been on their own ever since Tessa's mom pulled a "Kramer vs. Kramer" before she was even potty trained. So far, George has done a pretty good job of raising Tessa without a maternal figure in their lives, but suddenly he's feeling a little out of his league. So it's goodbye New York City and hello suburbs. At first Tessa is horrified by the big-haired, fake-boobed mothers and their sugar-free Red Bull-chugging kids. But little by little she and her dad begin finding a way to survive on the clean streets of the 'burbs. Sure, the neighbors might smother you with love while their kids stare daggers at your back, but underneath all that plastic and caffeine, they're really not half bad. And they do make a tasty pot roast.

WORK IT

Von diesem Angebot bin ich nicht ganz so überzeugt, allein der Comedygroßangriff beinhaltet so als Konzept nichts, was mich wirklich begeistert.
Die Travestienummer ödet mich beim Lesen an, die Vorstadthölle hatten wir auch schon, "Man Up" hat bisher überhaupt nichts Reizvolles, was dem Beziehungsthema einen neuen Kick geben könnte und wenn ich eins nicht brauche, ist es eine neue Tim-Allen-Serie.

"Good Christian Bitches" (wie die Serie ursprünglich hieß) ist auch nur eine Neuauflage der "Housewives", die ja langsam auslaufen, da könnte "Revenge" interessanter werden, wenn es nicht zu soapig dahindümpelt.

"Missing" ist die geschlechtsgewechselte TV-Version von "96 Hours" und der Bauer-Ersatz - die sollen den Bogen bloß nicht zu weit spannen, das Konzept trägt sich am besten nur über eine oder zwei Staffeln.

Die "Engel" reizen mich ehrlich gesagt gar nicht, das müßte man dann mal antesten, aber optisch funzt das so noch nicht besonders.
Interessanter finde ich die nächste Retroserie mit "Pan Am", allein wegen Christina Ricci, aber nach "Playboy Club" und "Mad Men" wird irgendeine Serie scheitern...mäh!

"The River" ist natürlich interessant zu lesen, schöne Sache, "Paranormal Activity" und ähnlichen Fake-Reality-Kram mal als Serie zu sehen, aber die müssen dem Affen ständig Zucker geben, so daß das Konzept einrosten könnte. Am besten auf eine feste Folgenzahl hin konzipieren.
"Once Upon a Time" wird vermutlich der "Ghostwhisperer" zu "Grimms" "Medium", aber hat mit dem Sonntagabend eigentlich eine gute Basis.

"Scandal" und "Apt. 23" klingen mir noch zu konfektioniert.


Interessant übrigens, daß die meisten hier vorgestellten Serien erst zur Midseason auf dem Schirm auftauchen werden, also "River", "Missing", "Apt 23", "Scandal"...hoffentlich versauert da nüscht im Archiv...

Tja, sieht so aus, als wären die Erwartungen erfüllt worden.

Die Serienpremiere von "Charlie's Angels" fiel wohl durchwachsen, bunt, aber platt aus (http://www.serienjunkies.de/news/charlies-angels-pilotepisode-review-34613.html) und konnte kaum die Zuschauer ziehen, die man sich wohl von drei hübschen Mädels erwartet hatte (http://www.serienjunkies.de/news/quoten-charlies-angels-starten-schwach-34610.html) (die ich imho auch ziemlich austauschbar finde).

Etwas besser ginge es für den ähnlich zeitgeschichtlich wie "Mad Men" oder "Playboy Club"  gelagerten Start von "Pan Am" ab, der ordentliche Quoten holte

ABC cancels 'Charlie's Angels'

Some classics — even the cheesiest ones — are better left in the past, and Charlie's Angels, it seems, is no exception: ABC is shutting down production the reboot from Smallville scribes Al Gough and Miles Millar. A network representative says the show will continue to air on Thursdays, filling the 8 p.m. slot with an unknown number of episodes. Last night's hour showed some ratings growth for the first time, climbing a tenth of a point to 6 million viewers and a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. But it wasn't enough to reverse the show's fate.

in Amerika wird derzeit von abc die erste Staffel der Retro-Serie "PAN AM" mit Christina Ricci u. a. ausgestrahlt, die 1963 spielt. Die Resonanz ist positiv, mein erster Eindruck ebenfalls. Der Guardian meint "Mad Men with wings", was ja hoffen läßt:

Ich wollte nur darauf hinweisen, daß es die ersten neun Folgen derzeit - und bestimmt nicht lange - kostenlos im amerikanischen iTunes Store gibt, bei dem man sich ohne allzu großen Aufwand anmelden kann (E-Mail-Adresse mit com-TLD wie bei Googlemail ist von Vorteil, KK oder Bankverbindung ist nicht erforderlich, aber eine Postanschrift in Amerika müßte angegeben werden). Kostenlos sowohl in HD als auch in Standardauflösung. Jede Folge in SD ist um die 600 MB groß.

Zwischenstand bei ABC: durchwachsen, hier muß es jetzt die zweite Welle richten.

Während "Once upon a Time" sehr gut durchstartete und gute Quoten erzielte (incl. Full Season Order), sind Charlies Engelchen und "Pan Am" ziemlich abgestürzt. Die Engel waren nach wenigen Folgen weg, Pan Am ist noch nicht offiziell gecancelt, es gibt aber wenig Zweifel nach den Quoteneinbrüchen.
"Revenge" läuft noch einigermaßen solide, aber "The River" gestaltet sich zum Experiment, ähnlich wie "Harpers Island". Retten sollen es jetzt "Good Christian Belles" als neues "Housewives"-Format, "Scandal" und "Missing", die jetzt zur zweiten Halbzeit starten.

Im Comedybereich hat man ausgerechnet mit den berechenbarsten Leuten den größten Erfolg, Tim Allens "Last Man Standing" läuft rund. Auch "Suburgatory" hatte den erwünschten soliden Erfolg. Dagegen "Man Up" und "Work it" sind schon wieder Geschichte - letztere als die große flache Peinlichkeit der Season. "Apartment 23" soll es aber April ein bißchen ausbügeln.

Nachdem sich bei Cougar Town sowieso schon regelmäßig Scrubs-Veteranen die Klinke in die Hand geben, gabs neulich einen Cameo-Overkill.
