"A little anarchy can be a life-changing experience," reads the tag line for The Other F Word. For the punk-rock fathers featured in the film – among them Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, Rancid's Lars Frederiksen and Fat Mike of NOFX – anarchy was not supposed to come in the form of dirty diapers and floors littered with toys. Directed by Andrea Blaugrund Nevins (Morgan Spurlock is an executive producer), The Other F Word is a joyous and unexpectedly wise look into the alternative world of punk rock fatherhood. The film opens this fall in theaters across the country, but you can check out our exclusive peek at the trailer here.

Flea was initially hesitant about appearing in the movie. "I didn't want my children in it," he says. "I have a five year-old daughter and a 23 year-old. I didn't want to subject my youngest to that kind of energy, but my older daughter said she thought it would be interesting." In one scene, Flea cries when talking about his role as a father. "When it comes to kids I'll cry at the drop of a hat," he says. "People know me from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and being an animal onstage, but there's another side of me that people don't know much...This is really a beautiful movie, and a sad movie. We all grow up wrestling with our own demons and we try to raise emotionally strong children with a strong sense of self and without the handicaps that we might have."

Ich bin gespannt drauf, sieht sehr interessant aus und als Fan von Rise Against freut es mich natürlich, dass Tim McIlrath einer der begutachteten Väter ist.

Der ist im April dieses Jahres heimlich, still und leise bei Arthaus/Studiocanal erschienen, hatte es erst gar nicht mitbekommen.

Hab ihn jetzt gesehen, mir persönlich hat "The Other F Word" sehr gut gefallen. Sicher, allzu bahnbrechende Erkenntnisse sollte man jetzt nicht erwarten, denn irgendwie ist fast jedem klar, dass man als 40jähriger Familienvater mit Eigenheim auf der Bühne eher in eine Rolle schlüpft, wobei die verschiedenen Väter unterschiedlich bürgerlich geworden sind. Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf Jim Lindberg von Pennywise, dessen Buch "Punk Rock Dad" die Regisseurin zu dem Film inspirierte. Dabei gibt es jedoch sehr offene, ehrliche und teilweise auch sehr emotionale, aber nie voyeuristische Portraits der Punk Rock Daddys, die nach dem Einbruch von CD-Verkaufszahlen immer häufiger auf Tour gehen müssen um mit ihrer Musik noch Geld zu verdienen. Dazu gibt es noch gut was auf die Ohren, meist von den Bands der porträtierten Väter (unter anderem Pennywise, Rise Against, NOFX und Bad Religion).
