Hallo,

BE COOL
Director: F. Gary Gray

Starring: John Travolta

Plot: John Travolta returns as Chili Palmer in BE COOL, a sequel to the original comedy smash GET SHORTY. In BE COOL (based on the novel by Elmore Leonard), Chili abandons the fickle movie business to bring his signature brand of wiseguy skills and negotiation tactics to the music industry.

COFFEE AND CIGARETTES
Director: Jim Jarmusch

Starring: Roberto Benigni, Steven Wright, Joie Lee, Cinqué Lee, Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Joe Rigano, Vinny Vella, Vinny Vella Jr., Renée French, E.J. Rodriguez, Alex Descas, Isaach de Bankolé, Cate Blanchett, Meg White, Jack White, Alfred Molina, Steve Coogan, GZA, RZA, Bill Murray, Bill Rice, Taylor Mead

Plot: COFFEE AND CIGARETTES is a comic series of short vignettes that build on one another to create a cumulative effect as the characters discuss things as diverse as caffeine popsicles, Paris in the twenties, and the use of nicotine as an insecticide, all the while sitting around sipping coffee and smoking cigarettes. As Jarmusch delves into the normal pace of our world from an extraordinary angle, he shows just how absorbing the obsessions, joys, and addictions of life can be. Filmed in black and white, COFFEE AND CIGARETTES made its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival then screened to a sold-out crowd at the Toronto International Film Festival.

IMHO: Ein leckerer Happen für Arthouse-Gourmets

THE WOODS
Director: Lucky McKee

Starring: Agnes Bruckner , Patricia Clarkson , Bruce Campbell

Plot: THE WOODS is a psychological horror story that begins when a neglected teenager named Heather (Agnes Bruckner) is dropped off by her parents at a remote all-girls boarding school deep in the forest. Watched over by sinister headmistress Ms. Traverse (Patricia Clarkson) and her staff, Heather is tormented by her classmates and is desperate to go home. But when students start disappearing and she begins to have horrifying visions, Heather realizes things at the school are not what they seem. She only knows there's something out there in the woods – and it won't be letting her leave any time soon.

CODE 46
Director: Michael Winterbottom

Starring: Tim Robbins, Samantha Morton

Plot: Code 46 is a love story set in an eerily possible near-future where cities are heavily controlled and only accessible through checkpoints. People cannot travel unless they have "papelles," a special travel insurance. Outside these cities, the desert has taken over and shanty towns are jammed with non-citizens - people without papelles whose lives are severely restricted. William (Robbins) is a family man who works as an insurance investigator.

When his company sends him to another city to solve a case of fake papelles, he meets a woman named Maria (Morton). Although he knows she has been creating the forgeries, he falls completely in love with her. He hides her crime and they have a wild, passionate affair that can only last as long as his papelles: 24 hours. Back home, William is obsessed with the memory of Maria. He tries to see her but is refused the necessary papers to travel. Desperate, he uses one of the fake papelles he kept from his investigation. He eventually tracks her down, only to discover she has been accused of a Code 46 violation.

IMHO: Eine interessante intelligente SciFi-Story. Tim Robbins glänzte bislang immer durch exellente Rollenauswahl. Und Regisseur Michael Winterbottom garantiert eigentlich auch anspruchsvolles Kino.

THE UNDERTOW
Director: David Gordon Green

Starring: Dermot Mulroney, Josh Lucas, Jamie Bell, Devon Alan

Plot: Set in a contemporary South untouched by time, The Undertow is a dramatic thriller about two brothers who run away from home to guard a secret following the death of their father and the arrival of their greedy, troubled uncle.

IMHO: Monsters Ball meets Sleepers?

WICKER PARK
Director: Paul McGuigan

Starring: Josh Hartnett, Matthew Lillard, Rose Byrne, Diane Kruger

Plot: Intricately moving back and forth in time and revealing the story from each character?s perspective, Wicker Park is an intense psychological drama about a man (John Hartnett) caught in an obsessive search for a woman he fell deeply in love with - a woman who then vanished without a trace. Two years after her disappearance, he catches a fleeting glimpse of her in a local bar and begins a twisting search to find her and discover what really happened.

THE CLEARING
Director: Pieter Jan Brugge

Starring: Robert Redford, Helen Mirren, Willem Dafoe, Matt Craven, Alessandro Nivola, Melissa Sagemiller

Plot: Wayne (Robert Redford) and Eileen (Helen Mirren) Hayes live the American Dream. Together they've raised two children and struggled to build a successful business from the ground up. But there have been sacrifices along the way. When Wayne is kidnapped by an ordinary man, Arnold Mack (Willem Dafoe), and held for ransom in a remote forest, the couple's world is turned inside out. Eileen finds her home full of FBI Agents, their life under scrutiny. While Wayne is engaged in the negotiation of his lifetime, Eileen works frantically with the FBI to secure his release. The terrifying ordeal causes Wayne and Eileen to reassess their marriage and come to a deeper sense of their commitment to each other. With each passing hour, the need and desire for Wayne to return home safely becomes ever more urgent.

I HEART HUCKABEES
Director: David O. Russell

Starring: Dustin Hoffman, Isabelle Huppert, Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Lily Tomlin, Mark Wahlberg, Naomi Watts

Plot: Albert Markovski (Jason Schwartzman), head of the Open Spaces Coalition, has been experiencing an alarming series of coincidences the meaning of which escapes him. With the help of two Existential Detectives, Bernard and Vivian Jaffe (Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin), Albert examines his life, his relationships, and his conflict with Brad Stand (Jude Law), an executive climbing the corporate ladder at Huckabees, a popular chain of retail superstores. When Brad also hires the detectives, they dig deep into his seemingly perfect life and his relationship with his spokesmodel girlfriend, the voice of Huckabees, Dawn Campbell (Naomi Watts). Albert pairs up with rebel firefighter Tommy Corn (Mark Wahlberg) to take matters into their own hands under the guidance of the Jaffes' nemesis, the French radical Caterine Vauban (Isabelle Huppert).

IMHO: Tja noch so ein Schauspielerfilm! Klingt nur etwas schräger und abgefahrener. Mal abwarten.

Tja, öhm... quasi mal als Warnung:

DIRTY DANCING: HAVANA NIGHTS
Director: Guy Ferland

Starring: Romola Garai, Diego Luna, Jonathan Jackson, Sela Ward, John Slattery, Mike Boorem, René Lavan, January Jones, Patrick Swayze

Plot: Havana: November, 1958. 18-year-old Katey Miller (Romola Garai) brings an innate curiosity and a smattering of Spanish to her new life in Cuba's lush capital, where her father has taken an executive posting at Ford. Bookish and awkward, Katey is expected to join the smart set of American teenagers who are the Millers' neighbors at the exclusive Oceana Hotel. But Katey finds herself drawn instead to the proud, purposeful Javier (Diego Luna), a waiter who also happens to be brilliant dancer. Determined to learn the slinky, spectacular moves that Javier seems to know in his bones, Katey persuades him to partner with her in a prestigious national dance competition at Havana's glittering nightclub/casino, The Palace. Soon, the straight-A student is deceiving her parents, stealing away both day and night to discover a different part of Cuba with Javier. They meet at the steamy nightclub La Rosa Negra, where only the locals go and where the dancing is hotter than the temperature outside. Some days, they practice on the sand of an out-of-the way beach, aligning their bodies in a sensual harmony that mirrors the growing passion between them. As the night of the contest finally arrives, Katey and Javier are ready to take their place as a couple on the dance floor - unaware that the country club, and the streets of Havana itself, are about to erupt in revolutionary violence.

IMHO: H I L F E!

EULOGY
Director: Michael Clancy

Starring: Ray Romano, Hank Azaria, Jesse Bradford, Zooey Deschanel, Glenne Headly, Famke Janssen, Piper Laurie, Kelly Preston, Rip Torn, Debra Winger, Curtis Garcia

Plot: When three generations of a deliciously dysfunctional family gather to bury the family patriarch, the beloved granddaughter of the deceased is given the task of delivering the eulogy. In the days leading up to the funeral, family secrets are revealed, old grudges resurface and the household erupts with renewed vigor. A wickedly irreverent comedy, Eulogy is ultimately a heartwarming portrait of a houseful of misfits celebrating the strangest and most enduring bond of all. Kate Collins (Zooey Deschanel), struggling through an awkward first year at college, returns home upon the death of her grandfather. At school, Kate might not fit in, but at home, she is quickly surrounded by a disruptive group of people even weirder than she is: her family. First, there's her father, Daniel (Hank Azaria), once child star, now in "adult" films. Then there's tightly wound Aunt Lucy (Kelly Preston), who has waited till the last minute to announce her wedding to life partner Judy (Famke Janssen); and wildly inappropriate Uncle Skip (Ray Romano) with his obnoxious twin boys. And last but not least, there's uptight and pushy Aunt Alice (Debra Winger), whose brash approach to marriage, motherhood and casseroles is unsettling to all concerned. When her grandmother (Piper Laurie) entrusts her with the task of delivering the eulogy at the funeral, Kate turns to her relatives for help. She quickly comes to realize that her own fond memories of Grandpa Collins (Rip Torn) are not shared by his children, who can only remember a distant father who, when around, could barely keep their names straight. As Kate struggles to find the right words to commemorate the solemn occasion, the rest of the family prepares for the event with its usual unruliness. In between the raucous infighting and the hilarious backbiting, family secrets are revealed and old wounds are exposed. In the end, the family come to realize that theirs is a legacy of chaos, redeemed only by comfort they find in each other.

THE FINAL CUT
Director: Omar Naïm

Starring: Robin Williams, Mira Sorvino, Jim Caviezel, Mimi Kuzyk, Stephanie Romanov, Thom Bishops

Plot: A Zoë Chip is a chip placed in your brain at birth to record your entire life. When you die, the footage from your life is edited into a "Rememory"-- a film shown at your funeral pieced together by an editor. A toy for the privileged, Zoë Chips are changing the face of human interaction, but there are those who are against this emerging technology, and believe that memories are meant to fade. Alan Hackman (Robin Williams) is the best "cutter" in the business, his ability to grant the corrupt absolution of the sins of his clients, has put him in high demand. However, his talent for viewing life without emotion has shaped him into a cold distant man and has made him unable to experience life in the first person. He believes he is a "sin eater" and his work provides him with the ability to absolve the dead of their sins. While cutting a Rememory for a high-powered colleague, Alan discovers an image from his childhood that has haunted him his entire life. This discovery leads him on a high intensity search for truth and redemption.

GODSEND
Director: Nick Hamm

Starring: Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Robert De Niro

Plot: Following the death of their eight year old son on his birthday, Jessie (Romijn-Stamos) and Paul (Kinnear) are befriended by a doctor on the forefront of genetic research (DeNiro) at the height of their mourning. He leads the couple in a desperate attempt to reverse the rules of nature and clone their son. The experiment is successful and under Richard's watchful eye, Adam grows into a healthy and happy young boy, until his 8th birthday.

As time goes by, the Duncan's gradually start to see small, subtle differences between the new Adam and the Adam they lost. At the time of the new Adam's eighth birthday, the changes in character are more pronounced. Adam grows distant and fearful as a palpable sense of menace settles within the young boy. This Adam begins to suffer from night terrors and frightening flashbacks as a sinister personality begins to emerge. Paul and Jessie cannot escape the fact that this Adam is different. Terror settles on the couple as they try to come to terms with just what they have done, or what has been done to them.

IMHO: De Niro ist immer gut. Schaun mer mal.

THE PUNISHER
Director: Jonathan Hensleigh

Starring: Thomas Jane, John Travolta, Laura Harring, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Samantha Mathis, Roy Scheider, A. Russell Andrews, Ben Foster, James Carpinello, Jeff Chase, Mark Collie, Russell Durham

Plot: The Punisher walks through the world darkened by war, crime, cruelty, and injustice. He has no superpowers to battle the evil he sees - only his fierce intelligence, his years of combat experience and, above all, his iron determination to avenge those wronged by society's villains. Thomas Jane stars as Frank Castle, the Punisher, squaring off against superstar John Travolta as the story's formidable villain. Co-starring are Rebecca Romijn Stamos as a woman climbing back from a troubled past, Laura Harring as Travolta's vengeful wife, and Samantha Mathis as Castle's wife.

THE FORGOTTEN
Director: Joseph Ruben

Starring: Julianne Moore, Dominic West, Gary Sinise, Alfre Woodard, Linus Roache, Anthony Edwards

Plot: Julianne Moore stars as Telly Paretta, a grieving mother struggling to cope with the loss of her 8-year-old son. She is stunned when her psychiatrist (Sinise) reveals that she has created eight years of memories about a son she never had. But when she meets a man (West) who has had a similar experience, Telly embarks on a search to prove her son's existence and her sanity.

IMHO: Wahrscheinlich wieder ein Suspense/Gruselmovie in Sixth Sense Art; mit Moore und Sinise interessant besetzt.

HELLBOY
Director: Guillermo del Toro

Starring: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, John Hurt, Jeffrey Tambor, Karel Roden, Victoria Smurfit, Rupert Evans, Doug Jones, David Hyde Pierce (voice)

Plot: Born in the flames of hell, and brought to our world in a pagan ritual, the fierce red hero, Hellboy (Perlman), was saved by his friend and mentor, the benevolent Dr. Broom. Raised in Broom's Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, Hellboy joins the likes of the "Mer-Man" Abe Sapien (Jones), Liz Sherman (Blair), the woman he loves who can psychically control fire, and Myers (Evans), the FBI agent who is his rival for Liz's affections. Together, our heroes must come to terms with fantastic powers that prove to be both a blessing and a curse. In the process they discover that their abilities serve to benefit mankind but may also keep them forever isolated from the society that only they can protect.

SECRET WINDOW
Director: David Koepp

Starring: Johnny Depp, Maria Bello, Timothy Hutton, Ving Rhames, Charles Dutton, John Turturro

Plot: Based on Stephen King's novella "Two Past Midnight: Secret Window, Secret Garden", SECRET WINDOW is about a writer (Depp) going through a painful divorce, who is stalked by a psychotic stranger (Turturro) who claims the writer stole his story. To force the writer to make amends, the stranger will go to any lengths, including murder.

IMHO: Eine Stephen King Story mit Jonny Depp als Star. Erinnert enfernt an Barton Fink.

SPIVS
Director: Colin Teague

Starring: Ken Stott , Nick Moran, Kate Ashfield, Dominic Monaghan, Linda Bassett, Jack Dee, Paul Kaye

Plot: In this cool, but surprisingly emotional, gangster flick, Jack is a true gentleman and a class act of the short con game. With his young protégé, the charmingly streetwise Steve alongside the sharp and sexy Jenny, and the 'bloody hopeless' Goat he runs a formidable team of quick-witted and successful con artists. Keeping the team on track and making sure Steve is focussed on the play (not on Jenny's foxy good looks) is the only trouble for Jack - until a simple heist goes wrong and they are lumbered with a truck full of illegal immigrants destined for the sex trade. While most of the illegals scarper, two of them, a scruffy 11-year-old girl and her frightened younger brother, are left in Jack's reluctant charge. But then the furious smuggler sets out on a bloody vendetta, determined to wreak revenge for the loss of his precious cargo...

THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER
Director: Lance Mungia

Starring: Dermot Mulroney, Josh Lucas, Jamie Bell, Devon Alan

Plot: When Jimmy and his half Native American girlfriend Lily are murdered by a rampaging satanic cult led by Luc Crash and his demonic bride, he is traumatised to find himself reincarnated as 'The Crow', an immortal being of Native American folk law and the 'killer of killers'. With revenge burning in his broken heart, and whilst he tries to come to terms with his new dark powers, Jimmy comes to realise what he can do, and what he must do - as he confronts the onslaught of gang members Famine, Pestilence, War and Death in this epic action battle of good and extreme evil. There is no rest without vengeance.

:nerved:

RICK
Director: Curtiss Clayton

Starring: Bill Pullman, Aaron Stanford, Agnes Bruckner, Dylan Baker, Sandra Oh

Plot: In this seriously black comedy - Rick was once a decent guy who now finds himself a widow, faced with an arrogant boss half his age, Duke, a distant daughter Eve and a corporate job that forces him to act like the brash and sarcastic jerk he suspects he's becoming. When searching for a new assistant, he deals with one young interviewee with particular scorn - humiliating her in the process. Then later that night, meeting her by chance in a local bar where she works as a waitress, he manages to get her fired. In a rage, she curses him, and his world changes forever. Within minutes Rick is met by an old College 'friend' Buck who offers him the latest corporate service of murdering Rick's boss Duke for a fee of $10,000 - so that Rick can advance his career. The proposition initially seems ludicrous, then Rick stumbles upon sexual emails from Duke to Eve, and all the years of pent up anger and insecurity kick in. RICK is funny, clever and vengeful - with a dark hearted twist.

IMHO: Eine fiese Mischung aus American Beauty und Angel Heart?

THE COOLER
Director: Wayne Kramer

Starring: William H. Macy, Maria Bello, Alec Baldwin, Shawn Hatosy, Ron Livingston, Estella Warren, Paul Sorvino

Plot: Bernie Lootz works as a "cooler" at the Shangri-la Casino in Las Vegas. Bernie has always had bad luck, and a natural gift for passing it forward; just by bumping into a hot hand at the tables he can instantly turn it cold. He fell into the job to pay off a debt to the casino's 'old school' gangster boss, Shelly Kaplow. Now that the debt is repaid, Bernie wants nothing more than to put Vegas behind him. But Bernie's unique talent is too precious to the casino and Shelly won't give him up without a fight. He decides to throw a drop-dead gorgeous waitress his way, hoping to convince Bernie to stay. The plan backfires when Bernie's bad luck turns to good as he experiences true love for the first time. THE COOLER is funny, romantic and somehow true to the spirit of the gangster films of the 50's.

THE HEBREW HAMMER
Director: Jonathan Kesselman

Starring: Adam Goldberg, Judy Greer, Andy Dick, Mario Van Peebles, Nora Dunn, Peter Coyote

Plot: A Jewxploitation spoof in the vein of Shaft and Austin Powers, The Hebrew Hammer is the story of Mordechai, a handsome Orthodox Jew (aka the Semitic super stud!) hired by the Jewish Justice League after discovering that Santa's evil son - who has come to run the North Pole after staging a coup with the help of a reindeer, Blitzen - has plans to eradicate Hanukkah as part of a nefarious scheme to be the only holiday icon at winter time. The Hammer joins forces with Esther, the gorgeous and dangerous daughter of the Chief of the Jewish Justice League, and his friend Mohammed, head of the Kwanzaa Liberation Front, who fears Santa may go after Kwanzaa next, to topple the evil Santa and save Hanukkah for future generations.

Very interesting!
