La Llorona. The Weeping Woman. A horrifying apparition, caught between Heaven and Hell, trapped in a terrible fate sealed by her own hand. The mere mention of her name has struck terror around the world for generations. In life, she drowned her children in a jealous rage, throwing herself in the churning river after them as she wept in pain. Now her tears are eternal. As the centuries have passed, her desire has grown more voracious...and her methods more terrifying.

In 1970s Los Angeles, La Llorona is stalking the night—and the children. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona's deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay, on the fringes where fear and faith collide.

Huch, es gibt schon einen Trailer? :icon_eek:

Ich finde sowohl die 33er- als auch die 60er-Jahre-Version ziemlcih nett, wenn auch nicht überragend. Das 63er-Werk (Sequel?) kenne ich allerdings nicht... Dass nun eine größere US-Produktion dieses mexikanische Thema aufgreift, hatte mich schon etwas überrascht. Der Trailer sieht nun aber nicht so aus, als würde man den Touch der Vorgänger aufgreifen. Schade, das hätte stimmungsvoller Retro-Grusel sein können, ich gehe nun aber eher von modischem 08/15-Schnickschnack aus. :icon_neutral:

Noch mal schnell gesehen, bevor Netflix den rausschmeisst, war mir gar nicht bewusst, dass der zum Conjuring-Universum gehört.
Hat ja viel Kritik kassiert und ist jetzt auch nicht wirklich innovativ - mit diesen "Cursed Movies" reduziert sich ja alles auf "reversibel/irreversibel" ein, aber Cardellini sehe ich halt gern und visuell hat der Film ein paar gute Einfälle, aber wer Conjuring und Insidious durch hat, der findet eben hier auch nichts wirklich Neues, dafür reihenweise jump scares.

Aber dafür, dass das Topic jetzt schon älter ist, ist er solide gemacht, abgesehen von den üblichen abgenutzten Wendungen, wenn Kinder im Spiel sind. Für den average Gruselabend. 6/10
