Zugegeben, Found-Footage-Horror-Filme sind schon lange keine sonderlich innovative Idee mehr – was 1999 bei "Blair Witch Projekt" noch Gänsehaut-Potential hatte, entlockt heute oft nur noch ein müdes Gähnen. Wieder interessant wird das Ganze allerdings, wenn "Transformers"-Regisseur Michael Bay vorhat, in seinem neuen Film "Almanac", den bekannten Found-Footage-Grusel auf Zeitreise zu schicken...

Produzent und Regisseur Michael Bay ("Armageddon", "Bad Boys") und seine Produktionsfirma Platinum Dunes werden mit "Almanac" einen Horror-Streifen auf die große Leinwand bringen, der Found-Footage-Horror mit einem Zeitreise-Motiv verbindet, ein Genre-Mix, der erfrischend abenteuerlich klingt. Das Projekt wird das Spielfilm-Debüt von Jung-Regisseur Dean Israelite und stammt aus der Feder der Drehbuch-Newcomer Andrew Stark und Jason Pagan.

Schön, dass junge Filmemacher bei Bays Produktionsfirma eine echte Chance bekommen. Bleibt nur zu hoffen, dass "Almanac" mehr überzeugt, als die bisher erschienenen Horror-Streifen aus der Grusel-Schmiede – die Platinum-Dunes-Remakes der Genre-Klassiker "Freitag der 13." und "A Nightmare on Elm Street" fielen sowohl bei den Kritikern, als auch beim Publikum durch.

Aber bleiben wir zuversichtlich: Neuer Regisseur, frische Drehbuchautoren und das filmisches Multitalent Bay als Produzent. Wir dürfen gespannt sein, was diese Filmemacher aus dem Genre-Mix Found-Footage-Horror und Zeitreise machen. Bisher halten sie sich, was den Plot angeht, noch bedeckt...

Rising actors Jonny Weston and Sofia Black-D'Elia are in negotiations to star in Almanac, Paramount's found footage movie being produced by Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

Paramount Picks Up Top-Secret 'Almanac' Project With Michael Bay Producing (Exclusive)'Shameless' Actor Nabs Starring Role in DreamWorks' 'Glimmer'Almanac is one of two competing found footage projects that has time travel at its core. DreamWorks is making Glimmer, and earlier this week THR reported that Shameless star Jeremy Allen White was the first person to board that production.

Both projects are attempting to keep a tight a lid on their respective details. It is known, however, that Glimmer revolves around a time portal while Almanac centers on the creation of a time machine.

Almanac is being directed by Dean Israelite and written by first-time writers Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan. It will shoot this summer in Atlanta.

The project has a budget in the $12 million range, according to sources, while Glimmer's is in the $15 million range.

Black-D'Elia tested for Bay during the filmmaker's search for the female lead in Transformers 4. She was previously part of MTV's short-lived Skins TV series and recurred on The CW's Gossip Girl.

Weston is best known for starring opposite Gerard Butler in Chasing Mavericks, the surfing adventure drama from Fox 2000 and Walden Media.

Weston and Black-D'Elia are repped by ICM Partners. Weston is additionally repped by 3 Arts Entertainment while Black-D'Elia by Brookside Artists.

Paramount did not comment.

Eindeutig im "Chronicle"-Fahrwasser - sieht aber unterhaltsam aus. Wird geschaut.

Gestern in der OV gesichtet und für gut befunden. Interessante Story die spannend inszeniert wurde. Ich kann nicht verstehen, warum der Film in den Kritiken nicht so gut wegkommt. Schaut ihn Euch an, klare Empfehlung. 8/10
